I thought Frontline had stopped working in most areas. Wouldn't a vet know that?

It depends.  Guess it still works in his area and the vet was probably just asked what brand he gave his dogs.

Frontline still works in my area and the vets around here recommend it.  I don't use it because I can get Advantage with my IAADP benefits.

We were using Advantage on our cats, but it stopped working very well, and it gave our smallest cat blisters.  Now we can't find one that works on 16lb+ cats- *sigh*.

I use Frontline because 1. Get it for free from Merial and 2. It still appears to work around here. If I could afford it, I'd switch to Advantix for the mosquitos. I've never personally had a problem with Frontline, but I know about 3 or 4 animals that have sensitivities to it.

What about Revolution or Vectra? I've heard great things about both and plan to put my cat Marzipan on one of them (whichever is less expensive) when we find a vet in our new area.

Revolution works well in my experience and covers much more than just fleas, but I don't know if they have a size for cats over 15 pounds...if they do, we don't carry it at work. You may have to put a regular dose and a kitten/small cat dose on at the same time.

Vectra...well, we have a flea control comparison chart at work that we found online, and all I can remember is that the chart says "Cool applicator" ROFL

I think we tried revolution, but they only had the dose size for our 12 lb cat. Our vet didn't have a 15+ lb dose, either.  We'll have to ask our vet...
