AVCO/Merial Eye Exam
« on: May 20, 2010, 01:04:13 AM »
Tay just had his eye exam through the AVCO program. Very impressive! The Vet and I are both Colorado State University Alumni!!!

Tay has good eyes. The exam was awesome and similar to the ones I have! He does show beginning age deterioration in distance visual acuity. Vet said it will not affect his ability to work.

I told her about Sara and asked how much to check her blindness. She said she will not charge me for an assessment because she is 13 and was my SD for 9 years. How kind!

She also said they can do cataract surgery on her and put in intra-occular lenses! Just like my cataract surgeries!!!!! I never knew they were doing that on dogs!!!! She said they do it on horses, too!!!!

A marvelous program! They did question me about the "owner-training" I explained who my training mentors have been, and the Vet knows both Tay's breeder and first trainer, and his second trainer too! Small world.

A 190 pound Rottweiler SD (owner trained and certified) was also there.  The dog was very obese..... never saw a Rott that big before. Was from Germany.

Ended the day with lunch at Old Chicago and had a Coor's and Italian nachos!!!! Wonderful, fun day!!!!
